Northern Caiman Lizard

The Northern Caiman Lizard

The Northern Caiman Lizard ( Dracaena guianensis) lives in Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and the Guianas. Northern Caiman Lizards are excellent climbers. Dracaena guianensis is mostly aquatic. Northern Caiman Lizards mostly eat snails, crayfish, clams, fish, and snails. The Northern Caiman Lizard once was hunted for their leather. But in 1970 Dracaena guianensis were provided with protection. Captive farms though have been set up and raise Northern Caiman Lizards for the leather trade.
